World Series Of Poker 2006
Women at the WSOP
The 2006 World Series of Poker was held at the Harrah´s Rio Suites, Las Vegas from June 26th - August 10th. The final event lasted 8 days and there was a total prize pool of $82,676,084. From 8,773 players, Jamie Gold, a 36 year-old television producer from Malibu, California managed to knock them all down and walk away with the $12 million cash prize.
As happy as we are for Jamie, we’d like to share with you how the ladies fared at the 2006 WSOP. This year alone, there were 1,128 women who participated in this year’s WSOP event, which is the largest turnout in poker history. Mary Jones Meyer, won the 2006 WSOP Ladies Championship and walked away with $236, 094.
As far as the WSOP Main Event, the last two ladies to finish were Susan “Sabyl” Cohen reached 56th place, taking home $123, 699 and Pro Annie Duke finished in 88th place taking home $ 51,129.
