- Hi Lacey! I’d like to know how I can compete in more high profile poker tournaments. How can I begin to prepare myself for the WSOP?
Elizabeth Serpan
Texas, US
Elizabeth, I’d hate to sound so cliché but practice makes perfect and one of the best ways for you to perfect your skills is through online poker. I put in countless hours practicing my Texas Holdem poker skills and still do. A good tool for you would be to practice in the free tournaments that APLady offers. The good thing is that you get an opportunity to play with poker players of all skill sets while fine tuning your own. Try it for a few months and get back to me!
- Could you please explain to me exactly what a bad beat is in poker?
Diana Raeh
Montana, US
A bad beat isn’t something that I look forward to when playing poker but unfortunately it happens. A bad beat is basically when a hand with high odds to win is beat by a weaker hand. For example, If a player has the following :
Player A – Ac & Ah
Player B – Qs & 9h
Now if the flop comes around with the following: A,8,7. Player A has almost secured a win at this point with 3 Aces. The only way Player B can win is if the turn and the river card are both 8’s. Player B calls and Player A goes all in at this stage. The next two cards that follow are 8 and 8. This play is called a Bad Beat. Hope that helped!
- Have you encountered any major challenges on the tables as a woman?
Cyndi Marie
United Kingdom
Cyndi, I have to tell you that I never really had a problem. I was always very confident with my poker skills so I figured if anyone had a problem with a woman playing next to them, it was just that, their problem. I mean you do come across many different attitudes and mind sets, some positive and some negative, but you have to think that you’d probably encounter these issues anywhere and you just learn to deal with them. For the most part it’s a friendly type rivalry that we keep between players and that helps to keep you on your toes.
Good luck at the tables Cyndi!!!
- It is so encouraging to see so many women becoming a part of the Poker World. I don’t have any questions for you just yet Lacey, I just wanted to commend you on being a great role model for us girls! I’ve been playing online poker for some time now and hope to be able to see you at the tables at
